Why Doesn’t Our Makeup Look Like Their Makeup?

Hey you! So today we’ll be changing things up. I love watching tutorials or GRWM on Youtube and apart from decluttering and collection videos, those are also, one of my favourites. However, if you do try to recreate that look, you end up with a result that is different from the look which that person created. So, here I share the many reasons I attribute to that, and if you want to know what those reasons are, just keep on reading!

English languageday.jpg

Cosmetic Surgery/Procedure – Now, a lot of youtubers do not hide the fact that they had cosmetic procedures done, either being fillers, a nose job, laser hair removal or whatever. And, it is one of the main differences. Most people cannot afford cosmetic procedures, and a foundation does look a lot different if you do not have any fine lines or hair on your face.

Brushes – Trust me, I was one of those you did not think that brushes were the thing that was going to make a lot of a difference on applying my makeup, but, trust me, it does. Investing on some good brushes can go a long way, and the same goes for a beauty blender/sponge. Plus, they do have a lot of the same brushes, so theirs are always clean and ready to use, which does not happen to most people.

Technique – Most people are trained makeup artists, which do know the way around the products and, know very well their face. Plus, they have a lot of years of learning and training!

Editing – Keep in mind that the final product (video) that gets to us, most of the time does not correspond to all the work that happened behind the scenes. It does not mean that they did not have to do the same thing several times and perfect it.

Take Away Message – We’re all different and just because some things work for some people it does not mean it will work for all people. Plus, we all have different face shapes, different skin types and skin problems that we need and like to address. Plus, keep in mind that no one knows you face and skin better than you

Inside My Travel Makeup Bag

Hey you! I’ve been MIA this past week, due to a lot of work, it was a lot. But now, most of it is all done and now, things are getting back into normal. So, if you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t, you have to), you’d know that last weekend was the christening of my niece. So, just keep on reading!

Firstly, the makeup bag. It’s from Primark and it is originally not supposed to be a mekup bag. But, everythings fit in so well, that now I just keep it as a makeup bag. also, it was a gift from my boyfriend, last year, maybe you can still find it in some stores, but online, I cannot find. Now, into the makeup that I took with me!

ELF Hydrating Under Eye Primer – Clearly this is an undereye primer, but I’ve been using it all over my face and I find that it does work a lot better than most primers. It is moisturizing and absorbs really quickly into the skin. And, even though it does not fill the pores I cannot say enough good things about it.

Avon Stick Concealer in Medium and Tarte Shape Tape in Light Sand If you know me, I do not wear foundation that much but I adore concealer and I’ve been mixing these two for the past month and I’ve been loving the look. You’ll definitely see them in an upcoming favourites post.

Avon ColorTrend Oil Control Pressed Powder in Light This is such a finely mild powder! Although this is not my actually shade, I find that once on the skin, you cannot tell that the colour is too light. Plus, it does keep me matte.

Revolution Duo Face Sculpt – This is quite a red-based bronzer and I haven’t got anything like it in my collection. Don’t be scared that it is a red-toned, once on the skin, it does look very natural.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette – I have been using this guy for the last two months now and I haven’t put it down yet. For eyeshadows, I’ve been loving the shade Coconut Cream to set my hole lid and highlight the brow bone. Then I mix Mousse and Peanut Butter together and use them through the crease and lid and that’s it. I also have been using this palette for my face highlighter and for this I mix Butter Pecan with a little bit of Pink Sugar and apply it to the cheeks. It is such a beautiful combination!

Have you tried any of these? What do you take with you? NA

Makeup That Is Tempting Me

Hey you! So, a lot of new releases have been hitting the market (as always) but even more now that we’re approaching summer, and let me tell you I’m not mad about it. However, if you follow my blog, you may know that I’m on a low-buy, which to be honest is not like most of the low buys that you see out there (you can read more about it here), but that doesn’t mean I should be spending a lot of money. However, these products have been on my watch list for a while now. If you want to know what those products are, just keep on reading.

Colourpop Fame Pressed Powder Shadow Palette – This is cool-tone lover’s dream come true. It would be a unique eyeshadow palette in my collection since I do not own that many cooled-tone shades. I just love it. Plus, colourpop eyeshadow are always such nice quality.

BH Cosmetics Nouveau Neutrals 26 Colour Shadow and Blush Palette – This one has so many amazing warm shades that I could just love and wear every single day. Plus, I’ve always wanted to try their blushes and this is such an amazing way to have the best of both. Plus, those blush shades are everything that I use and love!

Revolution X Tammy Tropical Paradise Palette – This is all the colour that I need in my life. It is warm with some pops of greens, which is one of my favourite eyeshadow colours. Plus that blue is stunning. It is just beautiful.

Smashbox + Vlada Petal Metal Collection – I must admit, part of the reason that I’m lusting after this one is the packaging, look at it, it’s gorgeous! But those highlighters seem amazing and I’d love to try those out. Such a beautiful collection!

Products You Bought Just for the Packaging

Hey you! So today, I bring you a different kind of post, all about the makeup products that, let’s admit, you just bought for that packaging. Plus, you maybe have never picked up that product to use it a single time.

However, I do feel like a disclaimer is needed. Some people do actually like to collect limited edition collections or even products that have a collector-worth packaging. However, I do not mean to offend anyone, but I do not believe in that. If you’re buying something, and spending the money on it, you have to use it and make your money worth. Plus, all that matter is the product itself. Now, into the post.

Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette – Now, this has to be the first one that comes to mind, when talking about beautiful packaging. It just seems like suddenly, you are inside The Hatter’s mind. It is just crazy and amazing at the same time.

Moschino + Sephora Limited Edition Colection – Again, this is such a cute looking packaging. I mean, they are all little gold bears, and it couldn’t be any cuter. That is just cuteness overload.

Urban Decay Basquiat Collection – This is such an amazing artist and the packaging couldn’t be any less. Even though the packaging was cardboard, it is such a nice packaging and it was just gorgeous.

MAC x Mariah Carey Collection – MAC is a well-known brand when it comes to beautiful limited-edition package and collections and this one was no exception. The packaging was so extra and so beautiful.

Another iHerb Haul

Hey you! Here I am again with another iHerb haul. I have done some posts like this, which you can go and check them out here and here! This is one of my favourite websites to shop from. there is always a nice sale going on, the shipping isn’t crazy and the products available are so affordable! I cannot say enough good things about it. So, now, if you want to know what I picked up this time, just keep on reading.

ELF Beautifully Bare Smooth Matte Eyeshadow in Brown Cashmere This was not the colour that I was expecting. I thought this would be a more light and warm shade of brown, but it is quite a deep shade. I’m not mad, I’ll still wear it, but it just caught me by surprise!

ELF Bronzer in Cool I was dying to get this product and I want to get the other two. I was so unsure of which shade I should get, so I decided I should go for the cooler shade, because even if it would be too cool to wear as a bronzer, I could still contour with it. Thank God, the shade is beautiful and I do love the formula. Now, I will for sure be getting the other two shades!

ELF Blush in Candid Coral This was one that I wasn’t even sure I’d pick up. People were just saying that this was no good, it was just shimmer, and I was scared. Thankfully, I love it. Yes, it is a blush that has glow, but it looks so nice on the skin!

ELF Bronzer Palette in Deep Bronze I’ve had this product but in the lighter shade that they make, which is Bronzed Beauty. I hated that one and ended up just keeping one shade and throwing away the rest. Now, this one is deeper and richer, which I love. Plus, these shades are more what I like to wear. I love this one!

March Favourites | 2018

Hey you! So, today we’ll bring it back to basics and to one of my favourite posts to write and to read! I cannot believe how fast has this year gone by. Soon it will be summer, then the school year is starting and when you realize it, it’s Christmas again. That is just crazy how fast time actually goes! But, today, I’ll be sharing with you my favourite products of the past month and if you want to know what it was, just keep on reading!

L’oreal Paris Purify & Mattify Face Mask – I forgot about this mask. It did come out some time ago, and I purchased it, and totally forgot about it. I’ve been using it this past month and my skin really likes it. It just cleanses my skin, without drying my skin out. Just a good mask to purify the skin and the pores!

Avon ColorTrend Eyeshadow Stix in Creamy Coffee I love my brown eyeshadows and this product is such an easy product to an everyday use. It is so easy to put on the eyes and even easier to blend it out. Plus, it is such a nice colour!

Fars├íli Unicorn Essence Skin Enhancing Antioxidant Serum – This is something that took me forever to pick up, just because everyone was talking about it and I felt like this could not be that good. However, I’ve been using it everyday as a face primer. I know, crazy since I have oily skin, however, this is just like a filter in a bottle. It just nourishes the skin and I feel like it helps with the texture of the skin. It is so good!

Bioten Skinnergy Moisturizing Cream-Gel – First of all, this smells amazing. And it is perfect for my oily skin. It moisturizes my skin without being too much for my skin to handle. It is such a nice product.

Freedom Eyeshadow Palette – No shade in particular, since this palette is something that I put together, it does not come with these shades. I had a few of these palettes, and I decided to switch some shades, which are perfect for an every day look. But, I’m loving the formula of these. They are smooth, pigmented (but not over-pigmented) and so easy to blend. It just looks so nice on the eye!

Thoughts on my iHerb Haul

Hey you! So, last summer, I placed an order in iHerb (use code: NIL0447, if you want to get a discount), and I’ve written a post sharing all the products that I did get ( you can check it here).

So, I find that it’s time that I share my thoughts on those products, since I’ve had time to try them and now I know how I fell about them! So, let’s just get on with the post!

ELF Cosmetics HD Lifting Concealer in Light This is just not my favourite product. The shade is too dark for me and I find that the formula does nothing for me. It does not covers that well.

ELF Cosmetics High Definition Under Eye Setting Powder in Sheer Even though you get the littlest amount of product in this guy, the product itself is amazing! It is so soft and finely mild, that I find it does compare to a high-end powder. It sets the concealer in place, without looking cake or too much. I cannot recommend this one enough!

ELF Cosmetics Hydrating Under Eye Primer – There are some concealer that tend to crease on me and this product does really help with that. It keeps the under eye are moisturized and ready for the makeup to be applied on top. It is a nice product!

ELF Cosmetics Contouring Blush & Bronzer Powder in Fiji-Matte When I got this I thought it would be more pigmented that it actually was, but that is actually not a bad thing. I do really enjoy the bronzer in this palette! And the blush is a nice every day pink shade. This one I’d recommend!

ELF Cosmetics Bronzer Palette in Bronze Beauty I was so excited to finally get this palette. However, I did find that the shades were too light and ended up getting rid of most of the shades, except for the darkest matte bronzer. Even though it looks red-based it looks so natural once on the skin. This palette would be better for those who have a lighter complexion than me. The formula itself, is nice and soft. The product does blend really easily! Overall, a nice product.

Blogmas #3: TAM Beauty Haul

Hey you! So, this time around, I’ll be sharing with you what I got during Black Friday through TAM Beauty’s Website. I had not tried to order anything from this website before, but, it was a smooth experience. Things came well packed and the delivery did not take too much time, even though I paid shipping. Now, if you want to know what I got, keep on reading!

Makeup Revolution Mono Eyeshadows in Delicious, Mocha Love and MMMM I’ve only swatched these, but I cannot tell you how crazy pigmented these eyeshadows are! They are so soft and pigmented and, for the price that they are, it’s just amazing! And, the pans are huge, so there is a lot of product there!

Makeup Revolution Duo Face Sculpt – I decided to pick this up because it reminds me a lot of the Wet ‘n Wild one. The powder is so soft, and it looks like it will be a nice shade. I’ll have to play with it, to know what I think of it!

Freedom Pro 12 Audacious Mattes – I’m a huge fan of matte eyeshadows, so of course I had to pick this up. I’m not going to lie, I did not expect the shadows to be pigmented, but I’m glad that they are! So pigmented and so soft. You cannot go wrong with these.

Makeup Obsessions Blush in Bronze I love blush and this colour looked like nothing that I already had, so I picked it up. The colour is different from the one on their website, but I actually do like it. Again, I do not own anything similar to that, so, it should be fun to play with it!

Freedom Pro Glow in Roar and Meow I was confused about what these products are, but they looked so cute, I could not help myself. I was expecting them to be highlighters, but the darker one looks like it will be a blush instead, which I’m not mad about. I’ll have to play with them!

Minimalist Makeup Routine | Fall 2017

Hey you! So, today, I decided that I should share my makeup routine for the fall! I can pull this look in 10 min, just because there is some blending. So, it is so nice for the mornings, where I so not have that much time. So, if you want to know what are the products that I’m using every day, keep on reading!

MAC Professional 3 Color Concealer Palette – Some days I just add moisturizer and skip primer, it works really nice. I’ve had this for so long! And I believe that they do not make this product now, which just gives you an idea about how old it is! But, I’m loving it. I use the lighter shade under my eyes and I mix the other two shades, for the rest of my face. I also like to go in, under my contour, to slightly clean it. And, let me tell you, it has amazing coverage!

Etude House Play 101 Contour Duo Stick – After concealer, I go in with this product to help bring some colour back into my face and, some definition! This is a slightly warmer bronzer shade, which, at first, I did not liked it, but now, I’m almost out of it!

Avon Color Trend Pop Cheek Cream Blush – I adore this product! It is for sure, the best cream blush that I’ve ever owned. It is so pigmented, but it blends out really nicely, leaving a flush behind.

ELF HD Undereye Setting Powder – After all the creams are applied to the skin, I go in with this powder and set the concealer. It is such a finely mild powder, which works amazing on the skin. It does not look cakey or heavy. And I’ll be getting another one, for sure!

Everyday Makeup DIY – I’ve written a post about it before (you can check it here), however, I’ve changed it up, to better suit my needs! After the powder, I go in with my powder bonzer (from ELF’s Bronzed Beauty Palette) on top of the cream one and finally I apply my highlighter (sample of The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer). I also keep a transition shade and a matte white, to highlight my brow bone.

Maybelline Brow Satin – One of my final steps is to fill in my brows. I like to take the sponge side of this pencil and just fill in my eyebrows. If I need any extra definition, I’ll then go in with the pencil side.

Etude House Oh! M’Eye Lash Mascara – This is the final step. I’m loving this mascara now. It provides a lot of separation and length. So, it is nice for more natural looks. Most of the days, I’ll just finish the look with some lip balm and I’m done!

Everyday Makeup DIY

Hey you! So last week I decided to run a poll in Instagram (if you don’t follow me, go follow me here) and, most people said that they wanted a post about it, so here it is!

Lately I’ve been so into deppotting things and just making my own palette, just with shades that I love and use! So, know that I’ll be doing more post about deppotting and decluttering! Let me know if you’re excited for it. I did this for my everyday makeup, and every other week, I like to switch things up. So, this was no exception!

The palette: This originally was an Avon trio, with a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter. I actually did not love it, the bronzer was too light for me and the highlighter was way too golden for my liking. But, a few days ago, when I pulled it out to used it, the product just shattered. So, I took it all out and decided to still keep the palette and just make my own palette, where I have the makeup that I’m loving for the daily basics in it! So, if you want to know what’s inside it, keep on reading!

The Bronzer: So, bronzer is something that I cannot go a day without. Same goes for blush though! So, I was so sure that I wanted a bronzer in this little palette. The photo does not make it justice! The colour is so much richer than this. It’s an elf bronzer, from the Bronzed Beauty Palette. It is more red-toned than what I usually like, but I’m actually enjoying it.

The Eyeshadows: So, this may come as a shocker, but all the eyeshadows in here, are ABH, but not the singles, the ones from the Subculture palette. Again, the photo washed them out so badly. Going from left to right, we have Dawn, Mercury and Roxy. Top to bottom, we have New Wave and Destiny. I just love these shades, I can create my everyday look, bronzy and subtle. I love it!
